“When Calls the Heart” is finally back with a new episode, and it’s bringing a brand new character — Mountie Nathan Grant — with it.

Hearties, if while watching the show you find yourself thinking, “Hm, he looks awfully familiar,” that’s because most Hallmarkies have probably seen him before.

The character’s played by actor Kevin McGarry, and he’s no stranger to Hallmark Channel.

Get to know his history with the network, as well as other interesting tidbits about the star, with these five fun facts!

1. McGarry has starred in five Hallmark movies.

He joined the family in 2015 with a role in Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: From Paris with Love.” Since then, he’s worked on “A Song for Christmas” for HMM and “Love at First Bark,” “Winter Castle” and “Winter Love Story” for Hallmark Channel.

2. “When Calls the Heart” is the third TV show

He previously starred as Dr. Timothy Hudson on TeenNick’s short-lived medical mystery series, “Open Heart,” in 2015. A year later, McGarry joined the cast of the much-loved, and long-running, Canadian drama series, “Heartland,” which many Hearties also watch. He stars as Mitch Cutty on the CBC show, which is based on Lauren Brooke’s book series of the same name.

3. Aside from acting onscreen, he also has experience on the stage.

The “When Calls the Heart” star spent four years doing theater in Canada, including at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario and the Charlottetown Festival in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island, according to an interview he did with My Devotional Thoughts.

4. He has social media accounts, but he doesn’t spend all of his time on them.

McGarry has both a Twitter and an Instagram for fans to follow him on, but not a public Facebook page. Although he has social media, he’s not very active on them, but out of the two he has, he spends more of his time on Instagram.

5. Playing the guitar and singing are two of his other talents.

He sometimes shares videos of himself playing music on Instagram, with his most recent one, in December, featuring him strumming the guitar and singing John Mayer’s “Who Says.”

Catch McGarry on “When Calls the Heart” on Hallmark Channel on Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT.
