Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle prefer different colors when it comes to their wardrobe.

The Duchess of Cambridge are often seen in colorful ensembles including green, blue, purple, yellow, red and pink. Meanwhile, the Duchess of Sussex’s choice when it comes to her outfit is usually between white and black. According to a royal expert, there’s a reason why the two duchesses dress this way.

“Kate does wear coloured clothes, but they are often mid length and tailored,” Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.

“She wears rather demure outfits, as she is dressing as the future Queen.”

Meanwhile, Fitzwilliams also commented on Markle’s outfits. Prince Harry’s wife is often seen in white or black outfits, or plain clothing and Fitzwilliams said that this is because Markle didn’t want to upstage the charity and people she supports during her royal engagements. She pointed out that “the dress can become the news.”

“Wearing black does two things, it allows the cause that she is supporting and the people she is meeting to be more prominent,” Fitzwilliams said.

“It is a safer way to ensure things that want her support will get more prominence. By choosing to wear black, Meghan ensures the outfit stays out of the limelight and gives more publicity to the cause.”

He added that aside from black being a “safe color,” this shade is one of the most dynamic and chic colors that Markle wears so well. Besides, Markle looks good wearing black.

Markle wore black when she joined Prince Harry at “The Lion King” premiere. However, she was upstaged by Beyoncé’s gold gown. The “Halo” singer also stole the spotlight when she arrived late on the red carpet.

According to reports, Beyoncé didn’t mean to show up late. She was already getting ready at around 2 p.m., but when she put on her daring gown, her team noticed that there was a rip. The “Lemonade” singer insisted on wearing the same dress, so the team had to find a matching thread.

Kate Middleton also outshone Markle’s white gown during Archie’s baptism with her pink Stella McCartney dress. Netizens noticed the Duchess of Cambridge more than the first-time mom in the official photos released by the palace, and many called Middleton “gorgeous” and “perfect.”
