Following Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal wedding, the Duchess of Sussex has been constantly bombarded with negative press. Although the Royal Family doesn’t typically comment on speculation in the press, some believe they need to reconsider their protocol.

Since she has begun to her royal duties, Meghan has received a variety of cruel nickname and has been blamed for causing a feud between Prince William and Prince Harry.

During a chat with Yahoo’s “Royal Box,” Victoria Arbiter claimed the Royal Family has done little to protect Meghan from the criticism she has been receiving. “There is a sense there that she has been under attack and that someone should have stood up to defend her,” the royal commentator explained.

Arbiter revealed Meghan’s American background has helped her win favor with some groups, but she remains a target for others.

“Overall Americans, I am generalizing a little bit, but they love the Royal Family. They have always admired the Queen, the love affair truly started with Diana, with Meghan in there they are very proud – it is one of their own behind palace walls,” she shared.

“There is a sense, however, they feel that the Royal Family hasn’t done enough to protect Meghan. And that is a theme that is developing.”

While public figures in American often release statements to shut down rumors and address scandals, the Royal Family has done neither for Meghan.

“They [Americans] find it hard to understand the Royal Family’s philosophy of ‘we don’t say anything because all that does is perpetuate the story,’” Arbiter shared.

Meghan and Prince Harry have become targets of backlash after the couple decided to keep some details about their baby’s birth from the public. Royal sources claim the two plan to have a private christening for Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

While the couple is entitled to their privacy, they may face some backlash about their latest decision.
