A Wisconsin man jailed for sexually assaulting a child allegedly tried to hire a cellmate to murder the two witnesses involved in the case.

According to reports, 32-year-old Laene Antone Piontek was arrested on June 5 and was facing charges for sexually assaulting a child at a home in Ashwaubenon. According to police, he was accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting the same child over several years.

He was charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child under age 12 and repeated acts of sexual assault of a child. He was being held at the Brown County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.

A criminal complaint stated that Piontek allegedly tried hiring a cellmate for murdering two witnesses in the child assault case by offering a sum of $20,000 in four payments "in the future."

"He [Piontek] said it would be best to look like an accident," the inmate's statement in the complaint read.

Piontek’s cellmate, on June 14, handed a note to a jail staff claiming that he was being "solicited for murder". The piece of paper contained a map with detailed descriptions of the home where the witnesses lived.

The unidentified inmate, in a written statement, said that the actual note provided by Piontek was flushed out and he recreated the drawing from memory. According to the investigators, the diagram was “shockingly accurate” which gave them all reasons to believe that the information would have come from someone who knew the place like the back of their hand.

The investigators also obtained a recorded phone conversation between the cellmate and another unidentified person. In the conversation, the cellmate is heard saying “the f--r is trying to solicitate me to murder,” the criminal complaint states.

According to him, he and Piontek had been cellmates for seven days and the two have no previous connection.

Piontek made his initial court appearance Tuesday (June 16). He was charged with two felony counts of solicitation of first-degree intentional homicide. He was being held at a $100,000 cash bond, making the total cash bond including the previous amount to $150,000.

If convicted, Piontek could spend a maximum of 25 years behind bars.
