Though we spent most of 2020 worrying about the coronavirus pandemic, the year is coming to a close on a rather positive note. This Christmas brings with it the highly-anticipated "Wonder Woman 1984" starring Gal Gadot.

The sequel to Patty Jenkins' 2017 "Wonder Woman" is among the several big productions hit by the COVID-19 pandemic that led to a global shutdown of cinemas. After several delays, it has been finalized that the next DCEU movie will release in theaters, as well as on a streaming platform. So, here is how movie buffs can watch "Wonder Woman 1984" online for free.

With several countries reporting a second wave of coronavirus outbreak and the U.K. facing a more aggressive variant of the virus, viewers are assured they can watch the movie without leaving their homes. Apart from cineplexes, the Warner Bros. movie will be streaming on HBO Max. The movie will begin streaming on the OTT platform on Christmas day at 12 p.m. ET.

Subscribers can watch the movie at HBOMax.com that can be accessed on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Playstation 4, Samsung TV, Xbox One and more. The viewers must have subscriptions to the streaming service.

Speaking with Jess Cagle on Sirius XM Stars, director Jenkins said there was no other "good option" for the movie's release.

"I'm very pro theatrical release and I will be that again, as soon as this is over," Jenkins said, as quoted by Deadline. "However, this is such a crazy year. It's such a crazy year. It's like all of us are trying to figure out with our lives, how to do everything the best we can. And so I kept saying there is no good option."

"Wonder Woman 1984" will see Gadot and Chris Pine reprise their role as Diana Prince and Steve Trevor, respectively. The sequel follows the events of the year 1984 when Diana was working as a senior anthropologist at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. As the crime-fighting superhero, Wonder Woman battles the big bad Maxwell Lord and Cheetah, played by Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig respectively.

"Wonder Woman 1984" is just one among the long line-up of big productions coming to HBO Max. Some of the other big titles include "Godzilla vs. Kong," "Mortal Kombat," "The Suicide Squad," "Reminiscence," "Dune" and "The Matrix 4."
