“World of Dance” Season 1 may have just experienced some sort of beginner’s luck.

The ratings for “World of Dance” dropped in week two. In its freshman week, the reality TV show garnered a whopping 9.7 million viewers and a 2.4 demo rating. However, week two drew in only 8.5 million viewers and a 1.9 demo rating. According to TV Line, there is a 12 and 21 percent drop between the well-watched first episode and the second installment.

Last week, judge and executive producer Jennifer Lopez rejoiced over the fact that “World of Dance” was well-received by audiences. The impressive ratings were probably a result of the fact that it was the first episode of the show, and it aired right after the premiere of “America’s Got Talent” Season 12.

However, “AGT” has remained steady in terms of ratings following its season opener last week. On Tuesday night, the reality TV show garnered 12.2 million viewers and a 2.6 demo rating. Last week, the show received 12.1 million viewers and a 2.6 demo rating.

In the first episode of “World of Dance” Season 1, a slew of new contestants were introduced. Majority of them made it to the next round, also known as the duels. There were a few standout contestants in episode 2, including “So You Think You Can Dance” winner and mentor Fik-Shun.

Soloist Nick Daniels also touched the hearts of the judges, especially Lopez, when he performed a contemporary dance that told the story of him losing his dad. Other contestants in episode 1 who made it through the duels include Diana Pombo, D’Angelo and Amanda.

“World of Dance” will release seven more episodes before the finale. In the finals, the winners of each division will compete against each other for a chance to bring home $1 million. As of late, it is still unclear whether or not “World of Dance” will be picked up by NBC for Season 2. After all, the ratings for the reality TV show haven’t been consistent.

“World of Dance” Season 1 airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
