Oscar Isaac will sport a blue costume as the villain in “X-Men: Apocalypse,” director Bryan Singer recently revealed.

“He'll be very similar to images in the comic. There's obviously something very futuristic and yet ancient to the design of both his costume and his physicality,” Singer told Empire magazine (via Screen Crush)

The first look at Isaac’s costume was revealed by Entertainment Weekly. It features a metallic helmet, blue overalls and blue gloves. The 36-year-old actor’s face can be seen painted in blue, while his eyes are red. The costume was created by mixing physical and digital effects, Isaac told Yahoo. He also said robotic technology will be used to make him look like Apocalypse.

In the comics, Apocalypse can be seen wearing cybernetic battle armor whose color changes according to different situations. He is depicted as emerging from an explosion, wearing a red and silver version of blue armor in the comic book “Ultimate Marvel.” He also wears bio and celestial armor in other Marvel comic books. The character is capable of doing molecular self-manipulation and energy manipulation, and he has a genius level intellect, endurance and longevity.

Born 5,000 years ago in Egypt as En Sabah Nur, Apocalypse is considered to be an immortal and appears in the form of various mythological deities. Louise Simonson and Jackson Guice have created him, and he made his first appearance in comic book “X-Factor” No. 5.

Isaac will showcase various personalities of Apocalypse in the film. “Humans are mutants, everything’s a mutant -- things that evolve. So I’m playing with what that is and encompassing that in someone that has these kinds of powers,” he told Cinema Blend.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” is being shot in Montreal. It has been set in 1980s, though the plot has not been revealed. The cast also includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Olivia Munn, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Lucas Till, Josh Helman, Lana Condor and Ben Hardy. It opens May 27, 2016.
