A game that lives up to its legendary bloodline in the first-person shooter genre is headed for Xbox Game Pass.

The fifth main game in the “Doom” series and called by Game Revolution as "one of the best first-person shooters ever," “Doom Eternal” is headed for Xbox Game Pass on Oct. 1 with a drop on Xbox Game Pass for PC set within the year, notes Xbox Wire.

Developer id Software and publisher Bethesda Softworks place you in the role of the Slayer, who must battle demonic forces from Hell with the help of such explosive upgradeable weapons as a Combat Shotgun, Super Shotgun. Rocket Launcher, Heavy Cannon, Chaingun, Plasma Rifle, BFG 9000, and the Ballista.

Other melee-type weapons including the Crucible Blade energy sword, a chainsaw, and the retractable arm-blade known as the “Doomblade” will also be for the Slayer to call upon as you battle demons on your singular mission to not just raze Hell but save humanity as well.

“Doom Eternal” provides a unique combination of fast-paced, push-forward, first-person combat in a single-player campaign that takes you from Earth, to Hell, and even to Mars and across dimensions that nobody has ever heard of.

On the battlefield, you as the Slayer must blast, stab, and shoot your way through demon hordes while taking what you can from slain enemies including ammo, armor, and health.

On Oct. 20 on the Xbox Store, your quest for vengeance continues with “Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods – Part One.” After the legions of Hell have razed the heavens, the Slayer is recruited to help retake the demons’ dimension of Urdak before their forces expand.

“Doom Eternal” is the sequel to 2016’s soft reboot of the franchise that was simply titled “Doom.” It was initially released in March on Windows, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One with planned releases for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.

With Xbox Game Pass, a whole new group of Slayers are headed for the world of “Doom Eternal.” Battle your way to the heart of the threat and decide the fate of the cosmos on Oct. 1 and Xbox Game Pass for PC later in the year.

This news comes in the wake of Xbox’s acquisition of Bethesda Game Studios earlier this week as Microsoft added parent company ZeniMax Media to their fold.
