Jack and Ashley on "Young and the Restless"
Jack (Peter Bergmann) will express his concerns about Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott, not pictured) health on the June 23, 2017 episode of “The Young and the Restless.” CBS

She is once again suffering from the effects that stress has on her MS, and Nikki will find herself an unlikely ally when it comes to her health on the Friday, June 23 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”

Since disowning Victor (Eric Braden) when they learned of his involvement in Adam’s death on the CBS soap, his various family members have suffered in different ways. Nick (Joshua Morrow) continues to struggle with keeping the secret from Chelsea (Melissa Clare Egan), Victoria (Amelia Heinle) lost Billy (Jason Thompson) to Phyllis (Gina Tognoni), and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) has been suffering from the stress with more flare-ups of her MS.

Nikki has particularly been more stressed ever since Victor made moves on her behalf to try and remind her that he controls everything in her life, and how successful she is with anything she does. Not only did he donate a wing to MS research in her name at a local university, but he also organized a charity concert for her to play at, with the intention being that she will realize how much she needs him after she plays and gets a hearty round of applause.

But, as she’s continued practicing, the nerves and stress over the situation have given her painful flare-ups of her disorder, and she’s been suffering in silence ever since. However, now, she will confide in Jack (Peter Bergmann) about her problem, and will be somewhat relieved when she learns that he supports her and also realizes just how much this is getting to her.

“I know what this is doing to you,” he says in a preview clip. “Victor may not see it or care, but I do.”

Jack is also fearful that the stress will cause Nikki to turn to her vices—namely, alcohol, which has served as her comfort when she fears the things Victor has done in the past. And while he doesn’t know just what is causing issues between the pair this time, he will know that the right thing to do will be for Nikki to cancel the show.

However, determined to prove to her husband that he can’t control her, Nikki will insist on going through with the concert, even though she is in severe pain. She will promise Jack that she isn’t going to drink, and the only true concern is her flare-ups. However, after she leaves, a new concern could reveal itself.

Victor will once again see the exchange between his wife and his biggest enemy, and he won’t be happy about it. He has been angered enough by the lack of relationship he has had with his wife and children since the Adam reveal, and he will already be in a sour mood after a confrontation with Nick that didn’t go well earlier in the day, when he stopped by the ranch ro see his mother, but found his father instead.

“You can’t avoid your father forever son,” he says in the clip.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
