Your Anon News (YAN), the independent news outlet affiliated with hacker activist collective Anonymous, is seeking to establish itself as a more formal news organization. To raise funds, YAN took to crowdfunding platform IndieGogo and raised $15,866 (at the time of writing) with seven days still remaining in the campaign – shattering the group's original goal of $2,000.

YAN has actively aggregated news stories on Tumblr for two years, and has more than 900,000 followers on Twitter. According to the Indiegogo campaign, YAN plans to use the money to build a new website and support original reporting from independent journalists. The group hopes to provide livestream feeds of events from citizen journalists, and create a community for its users outside of social media.

“We haven’t had a space to provide a proper forum for our many contributors and talented supporters. We love the livestreamers that provide YAN with firsthand reporting and independent journalists whose voices [are] often unheard, but we aren’t supporting them the way we should. We’re here to change that.”

Perks for the contribution include buttons, coffee mugs, shirts and sweatshirts.

Anonymous made headlines last week when it shut down several official North Korean websites and social media accounts in a coordinated cyberattack, and again on Monday with a strike against Israel. In December, YAN's Twitter account was temporarily suspended for sharing private information of members of the Westboro Baptist Church.

IBTimes reached out to YAN via Twitter for a comment, but has received no response.
