Many people are looking for the fountain of youth or the cup of immortality. Reality states, however, that people age, and it’s a matter of time before the end of the line is reached. But there are certain drinks that you can indulge in, which could help you live longer.

A recent study conducted by the Universities of Bristol, Cardiff, and Reading showed that three drinks could add more years to life. You might not know it, but these drinks oftentimes go unnoticed or that people don’t know their worth.

Drink Milk

According to the research, when you drink milk, you reduce your chance of dying from certain illnesses like stroke and coronary heart disease by 15 to 20 percent. Analyzing 324 studies that revolve around milk consumption, it found that milk consumption affects survival rates. As per Professor Ian Givens from the University of Reading, they found that consuming milk provides a survival advantage.

Drink Coffee

Another drink that was also shown to contribute to longevity is coffee. As per the study found in the Annals of Internal Medicine, which involved more than 215,000 participants, it revealed that there is a lower risk of death associated with coffee drinking. The risk was lowered in deaths resulting from cancer, stroke, heart disease, diabetes, respiratory, and kidney diseases.

Consuming one cup of coffee a day reduces death risk by 12 percent. Drinking 2 to 3 cups lowered it further by 18 percent. As per one researcher Veronica Setiawan, the antioxidants and the phenolic compounds play a key role in preventing cancer.

Orange Juice

Like coffee and milk, orange juice was linked to tons of health benefits for the body. It can protect the body against cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. Orange juice contains antioxidants that protect the cells from free radicals.

According to Mayo Clinic, “Antioxidants are substances that may protect your cells against the effects of free radicals — molecules produced when your body breaks down food or is exposed to tobacco smoke and radiation. Free radicals may play a role in heart disease, cancer and other diseases.”

A study revealed that when you drink 750ml of orange juice daily, you are increasing antioxidants in the body. Even those with high cholesterol benefit from drinking orange juice. This helps in lowering triglyceride levels, which was known to contribute to an increased heart disease risk.
