Although you can never go wrong with a classic margarita, Cinco de Mayo is the perfect time to broaden your tastebuds and create an array of tasty cocktails. The holiday, which originated in Mexico, celebrates the Mexican army’s victory over the French during the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

While the people in Puebla have special traditions to honor the day. Many people in the US view May 5 as an opportunity to celebrate Mexican culture and gather with friends to participate in a day of tequila-themed festivities.

Whether you are celebrating on your own or heading out to a fiesta, consider wiping up one of the delicious margarita recipes below during your Cinco de Mayo celebration.

Noble-Rita

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Casa Noble Crystal Tequila
  • 1 oz. Agave nectar
  • 1 oz. Lime juice Lime wedge

Combine all of the ingredients except for the lime wedge into a shaker with ice. Shake until chilled. Strain the contents of the shaker into a glass (salt rim optional). Use the lime wedge to garnish your cocktail.

Margarita Al Pastor

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. Tequila Don Julio Blanco
  • 2/3 oz. Orange Liqueur
  • 2/3 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 2 oz. Cooked Pineapple Juice
  • 5 sprigs Cilantro Hibiscus Salt*

*Hibiscus Salt: 2 parts dried Hibiscus flowers, 1 part fine salt, 1 part white sugar, 1/2 part confectioner’s sugar

Combine Tequila Don Julio Blanco, orange liqueur, fresh lemon juice and cooked pineapple juice into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and strain the mixture into a double old-fashioned glass rimmed with hibiscus salt over fresh ice. Garnish with cilantro.

Mi CAMPO Margarita

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Tequila Mi CAMPO Blanco
  • ½ oz. Orange Liqueur
  • ½ oz. Agave Nectar
  • 1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice

Add the ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well before straining the mixture over fresh ice into a double rocks glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Avo-Keto Margarita

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz. Tequila Don Julio Reposado
  • 1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1 Avocado (Skin and pit taken out)
  • Pinch of salt Cilantro (optional)
  • Chili Lime Salt

Combine the Tequila Don Julio Reposado, fresh lime juice, avocado and salt into a blender with 2 1/2 cups of crushed ice. Blend the ingredients until the texture is smooth. Pour mixture into a rocks glass (rimmed with chili lime salt) over fresh ice. Consider garnishing the cocktail with cilantro and a lime wheel.

Classic Margarita

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. silver tequila
  • 3/4 oz. triple sec
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 tablespoon Simple Syrup (optional)
  • Ice Lime slices and salted rim, for garnish

This simple recipe from Food & Wine requires the ingredients to be combined together in a shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain the contents over ice into an old-fashioned glass.
