“Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” fans were very excited to meet Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki) in Season 2 episode 5. Luckily for them, it seems that the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent is joining Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) team—but Lance Hunter (Nick Blood), her ex-husband, probably won’t be excited about it. He has referred to her many times over the past few episodes using terms such as “psychotic” and “demonic hell beast.”

"Bobbi Morse is a well-seasoned spy whose ability to slip in and out of undercover situations seamlessly will prove invaluable to our team," executive producer Jed Whedon told Marvel. "But her appearance comes as a gut-punch to Hunter, as the history they share is complicated to say the least."

Don’t expect Bobbi or Hunter to ignore each other though. There will be plenty of playful confrontation between the exes, according to Palicki. “There’s going to be a fun dynamic,” Palicki told Entertainment Weekly. “A little bit like a Mr. and Mrs. Smith-type thing happening. It adds a little bit of levity and comedy to some very intense situations down the line.”

That comedy is going to be very necessary in the coming weeks. Between the possibility of May (Ming-Na Wen) having to kill Coulson, Fitz’s (Iain De Caestecker) permanent brain damage and S.H.I.E.L.D. being marked as a terrorist organization, “Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” could use some comic relief.

Unfortunately, Hunter won’t be able to talk about his “demonic hell beast” ex-wife to the other agents because they won’t share that opinion of her. Viewers already saw Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) immediately take a liking to her, and Mack (Henry Simmons) had a friendship with her before joining Coulson's team. So Hunter won't have anyone to complain to about Mockingbird, even if he gets a little jealous when he witnesses Bobbi using her sexuality on missions.

“Bobbi uses her sexuality and her confidence to get whatever it is she wants,” Palicki said. “She’s also very able to adapt to situations very, very quickly, which is part of her power in manipulation. At the end of the day, she’s a really cool, funny, sweet character. She’s just a badass, ultimately.”

Bobbi’s ex-husband will just have to get used to it. It looks like Mockingbird is sticking around for a while, though Palicki wouldn’t talk about exactly how long she would stay for.

“That is up in the air still,” Palicki said. “She is part of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team. In episode 206, the world turns on S.H.I.E.L.D. because Hydra poses as them and attacks the U.N. All those story lines are still going; she’s just now a part of that world.”
