  • Anna Cardwell has called out those who criticized her sister Alana Thompson
  • The former reality star is proud of her sibling for doing a photoshoot with Teen Vogue
  • Cardwell said Thompson is giving other teens the "courage" to embrace their curves no matter their size

Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell came after those who bashed her youngest sister Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson over her photoshoot with Teen Vogue.

The 27-year-old former reality star addressed her 16-year-old sister’s critics in a new interview after spotting the negative comments on social media about Alana’s photos for the online magazine.

“Alana is beautiful,” Cardwell told The U.S. Sun in an exclusive interview. “There are models like Ashley Graham who are 200 pounds, and she has huge contracts. I mean, hell, Victoria Secret is working with plus-sized models. Does weight even matter?”

“The modeling industry has gotten so much backlash for not having plus-sized models, now they’re doing diversity with all different types of people and cultures,” she continued.

The eldest daughter of Mama June Shannon, 42, went on to say that she’s proud of Thompson for standing up and doing the shoot with the fashion and lifestyle magazine because she’s giving “others the courage to do it.”

“Basically, she is putting herself out there, and all the teens who are overweight now — she has given them the encouragement,” she added.

Cardwell also grabbed the opportunity to speak up for her other sisters, Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, 24, and Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon-Efird, 21, who also received their fair share of criticisms online as reality TV stars.

According to Cardwell, all four of them may be “nuts,” but they are “all beautiful” and all of them “could be models.”

Thompson’s photos and her sit-down interview with Teen Vogue were published online Wednesday. The young star’s cover story quickly caught a lot of attention as she’s seen modeling chic outfits in the snaps. However, the former “Toddlers & Tiaras” star also received some negative comments about her weight.

Thompson herself addressed body shamers in her interview with the publication, admitting that she couldn’t understand why some people think this way and feel the need to comment on others’ weight and figure.

“I don’t understand why people think this way. Just because I got a little bit of extra meat on my bones, you want to hate me? I’ll never get body-shaming. … Like, I know I’m beautiful, and I know I got a banging body, so … I don’t care,” she said.
