Comedian Andy Dick was attacked over the weekend following a show in New Orleans, according to both Dick and witnesses.

The alleged incident occurred outside of One Eyed Jacks Nightclub, located in the French Quarter of the city. The Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate reported that Paris Dylan, a guitarist-singer who performed with the 53-year-old, stated that things were going as they usually do after a show -- meeting with fans and posing for photos.

Then, as he was preparing to enter an Uber, Dick was "sucker-punched" and left "knocked out 100 percent for 15 minutes." The comedian was taken to the hospital, where he was placed in the Intensive Care Unit.

As of Monday night, the New Orleans Police Department was investigating the alleged assault.

The promoter for Dick's New Orleans shows, Robert Couvillion, was unsure what could have triggered the attack. He and another man even chased the assailant, who managed to get away.

“Andy was on his best behavior,” Couvillion said. “Some of his shows are a little wilder. Every show is different. This show was mostly storytelling. He didn’t disrespect anyone.”

Dick is a comedian, actor, musician and television and film producer although he is more widely known for his controversial material, eccentric behavior, and sexual misconduct allegations.
