After nearly seven years on the job, a Border Patrol agent in Arizona has been arrested on multiple counts of sexual assault.

The accusations came to light after a woman approached Tucson police, saying she had been sexually assaulted by Steven Charles Holmes. She said the pair got in touch through a dating app and Holmes identified himself as an agent for the U.S. government's Customs and Border Protection. It was from these accusations that Tucson police began investigating Holmes.

“The investigation uncovered multiple victims with similar reports occurring from January 2012 to January 2019,” police revealed after looking into Holmes past. It was also in 2012 that Holmes started working for Border Patrol.

Holmes, 33, was arrested and charged on three counts of sexual assault and three counts of aggravated assault on Tuesday and is currently being held in Pima County Jail. He has also been placed on administrative duties until the investigation is completed.

“We do not tolerate misconduct on, or off duty, and will fully cooperate with all investigations of alleged misconduct by our personnel,” Customs and Border Protection wrote in a statement.

Holmes is being held on $25,000 cash bond and police are investigating further to see if Holmes is connected to any more assaults. Police have also urged anyone with information to reach out to the proper authorities.
