An Arizona mother was praised for springing into action and saving her daughter from an intruder in their house.

The registered sex offender, identified as 54-year-old Lloyd Beard of Prescott, was arrested after deputies found him lying on the ground with his pants down.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said Beard had broken into the family's house in Paulden in the early hours of Wednesday. Mayla Hogan and her two children were inside the house at the time, according to AZ Family.

Hogan's 12-year-old daughter woke up to find the man inside her bedroom, touching her face. Beard then got into her bed with her, the sheriff's office said.

The child managed to alert Hogan, who rushed into the room and tried to drive the man out of the house.

"I was telling him to get out, and I was opening the door because he just wasn't responding. And, of course, I physically removed him from the house. But when I did that, I was able to tell that his pants were down," Hogan told 12 News.

Hogan confronted Beard in the yard, "where he was exposing himself and threatening to 'drop her,'" the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook.

When Beard tried running away, the mother and her teenage son chased after him. They managed to restrain him until deputies arrived at the scene at around 3 a.m.

Beard was found on the ground with some minor injuries, caused by the scuffle he had with Hogan.

"If I'm being honest, my mom got a couple, a lot of hits in," Hogan's son told the outlet.

The intruder was given medical attention at the scene and taken to the hospital before being booked into the Yavapai County jail.

The sheriff's office credited Hogan for saving the child from further harm

"The quick action of the mother saved not only her daughter from further trauma but managed to help take a dangerous predator off the streets," the sheriff's office wrote.

"By the grace of God I'm a rough neck," the relieved mother told the outlet, adding, "by the grace of God I have good children, and by that same grace of god we will prevail."

Officials said Beard is a level 3 sex offender, who registered with the sheriff's office last week.

He is now facing multiple charges for breaking into the 12-year-old girl's bedroom. The charges included indecent exposure, voyeurism, aggravated assault, burglary, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.

"Violent sexual crimes against children are among the most heinous offenses I can think of. I am always as shocked as all of you at the capacity of these appalling offenders to prey on the vulnerable" said Sheriff David Rhodes. "These violent criminals must be removed from society, and we will always seek to prosecute them and fight for justice for their victims."
