With just two and a half weeks until premiere night, another Season 29 celebrity has been confirmed for “Dancing With the Stars”-- Backstreet Boy AJ McLean.

McLean’s participation, which had been heavily rumored in recent days, was confirmed by both the show and McLean himself during an appearance on “Good Morning America,” where he joked that despite having experience with dance in general throughout his career, he wasn’t going to have an advantage in the competition because the styles are different.

"This is a little bit of a different style of dancing then what I used to do growing up,” he said. “I’ve been dancing since I was about six years old, but this is going to be a bit different.”

McLean is the second member of the boy band group to hit the dance floor on the show, after Nick Carter, who placed second with Sharna Burgess in Season 21. Other boy band/former boy band members who have competed on the show have included NSYNC’s Joey Fatone (Season 4, Second Place) and Lance Bass (Season 7, Third Place), as well as 98 Degrees brothers Drew (Season 2 winner) and Nick Lachey (Season 25, 9th place).

McLean is also the second confirmed celeb to be participating on Season 29, following former “Bachelorette” Kaitlyn Bristowe, who was confirmed to be on the show back in June, after “Bachelor” host Chris Harrison asked her to be on the show during a segment of “The Bachelor: Greatest Seasons Ever.”

As for who may be joining Bristowe and McLean in the Ballroom, nothing has yet been confirmed by ABC, but several names have been floated, with the most popular recent candidates rumored to be in talks including Anne Heche, Carole Baskin and Chrishell Stause. As for other potential participants, judge Bruno Tonioli made it clear he would love to see Meghan Markle participate, while producers reportedly reached out to Dr. Anthony Fauci, who declined.

Two staples on the show who have been confirmed to not be coming back for Season 29 are hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews, who were let go and replaced by Tyra Banks. Also not returning are pro dancers Lindsay Arnold and Witney Carson, who both announced pregnancies which are sidelining them this Fall.

However, the pro lineup has been confirmed to include Brandon Armstrong, Alan Bersten, Cheryl Burke, Val Chmerkovskiy, Sasha Farber, Jenna Johnson, Daniella Karagach, Keo Motsepe, Peta Murgatroyd, Pasha Pashkov, Gleb Savchenko and Emma Slater.

Returning after their ousters for Season 28 are Sharna Burgess, Artem Chigvintsev and troupe member Britt Stewart, who has officially been promoted.

“Dancing With the Stars” Season 29 premieres Monday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
