Bates Motel
Romero (Nestor Carbonell) will face a “potentially awkward situation” in episode 4 of “Bates Motel” Season 4. A&E

Is Norma (Vera Farmiga) going to end up in Pineview Mental Institution right alongside her son? Anything's possible on “Bates Motel.”

Last week’s episode of the A&E “Psycho” prequel series revealed some interesting developments. Norma went through with marrying Romero, and discovered that her “fake” husband was interested in a very real relationship with her. What she didn’t realize is that prior to agreeing to marry her, he was hooking up with a local woman who worked at the bank. But this wasn’t just any old hookup. This mysterious woman helped him clear out Bob Paris’ (Kevin Rahm) bank account.

Meanwhile, Norman (Freddie Highmore) was having a hard time adapting to Pineview Mental Institution and his therapy sessions with Dr. Gregg Edwards (Damon Gupton). The episode concluded with him telling his doctor that his mother has killed people. Dr. Edwards warned Norman that he'd have to notify the authorities about his statement, and Norman seemed completely fine with that.

The synopsis for episode 4, titled “Lights of Winter,” reveals that Norman will embark on an “adventure with a new friend.” Could this “new friend” be Julian (Marshall Allman), the other patient he met in episode 3?

Norma will be oblivious to what’s going on with her son. But that might be a good thing. The episode description adds that Norma will get a “taste of happiness at a festival in White Pine Bay.” However, that happiness might not extend to Romero, as he will face a “potentially awkward situation.” Could it be his snooping ex-girlfriend?

Finally, the synopsis teases that Dylan (Max Thieriot) will find himself “caught between two families.” He’s already taking steps to get out of the weed-growing business in order to provide a better future for Emma (Olivia Cooke), but does that mean Norma won’t approve?

“Bates Motel” fans will have to tune into A&E on Monday, March 28 at 9 p.m. EDT to watch the drama unfold.
