Miura's most famous work, "Berserk," debuted in 1989. It was a dark fantasy manga. It is scheduled to release its eighth volume this July.

Fans of "Berserk" took to Twitter to remember the veteran creator.

"When I did our panels with Carl Horn, something that always surprised audiences was that BERSERK was Dark Horse's best-selling comic. Period. Of all time. It outsold HELLBOY. It outsold UMBRELLA ACADEMY. It outsold everything. Kentaro Miura was a superstar," Zack Davisson, a translator and writer, tweeted.

"Mr. Kentaro Miura passed away. He passed away at the young age of 54. I can't watch the last volume of Berserk. I'm very sad and feel a sense of emptiness. I pray that he may rest in peace," Yoshinori Ono tweeted.

Twitter user Ducky thanked Miura for inspiring people through his work.

"I truly believe that even if you haven't read Kentaro Miura's work, you can still appreciate his work, and at this point, there is no way any manga reader doesn't know who he is. It makes me so happy to see how many people got inspired by Berserk..." Ducky tweeted.

Another user, named Bryan Lee O'Malley, called Miura "a legend."

"Guts, a former mercenary now known as the 'Black Swordsman,' is out for revenge. After a tumultuous childhood, he finally finds someone he respects and believes he can trust, only to have everything fall apart when this person takes away everything important to Guts for the purpose of fulfilling his own desires. Now marked for death, Guts becomes condemned to a fate in which he is relentlessly pursued by demonic beings," the synopsis of "Berserk" manga read, according to My Anime List.

"Setting out on a dreadful quest riddled with misfortune, Guts, armed with a massive sword and monstrous strength, will let nothing stop him, not even death itself, until he is finally able to take the head of the one who stripped him—and his loved one—of their humanity," it added.
