The desciption for the finale reveals that a rift between Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) could lead to a breakup for one of the two roommates. What will happen in episode 22, “The Commitment Determination?”

According to the synopsis for the new episode, tensions will be high when Sheldon starts to put pressure on Leonard and Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) to finally set a date for their wedding. The couple has been dating on and off again for seven years and has been engaged for over a year, but have been hesitant to actually pick a day to tie the knot. In episode 21, Leonard even got some extra pressure to go ahead with the ceremony during a visit from his mother (Christine Baranski).

Well, the promo for the Season 8 finale reveals that Leonard and Penny might decide to speed up the process and take a trip to Las Vegas to get hitched.

Meanwhile, Sheldon’s prodding will also land him in trouble with his own girlfriend, Amy (Mayim Bialik). While Sheldon and Amy do not have a wedding to plan, the two have been together for five years and things are still moving pretty slowly – the couple only said “I love you” this year, during an early Season 8 episode. Amy is looking to take things to the next level and Sheldon’s trepidation could be a problem.

Will Leonard and Penny finally pick a date for their wedding? Will Sheldon and Amy break up? Fans will have to wait to find out. “The Big Bang Theory” Season 8 finale airs Thursday, May 7 at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
