South Korean boy band BTS’s member Kim Taehyung, popularly known by his stage name V, earned the nickname “National Treasure” with his recent Twitter selfie.

The K-Pop idol surprised the world with his stunning new selfie showcasing his amazing visuals, fashion, and his new hairstyle. The 24-year-old shared a mirror selfie on the band's official Twitter page with the caption "Hi Army", leaving the fans with nothing but admiration and praise for the singer’s new look.

The selfie tweet, largely shared on social networking sites set a record of being the first South Korean solo artist to surpass 1 million likes in the shortest amount of time, as per Allkpop. His tweet attained the record within 1 hour 29 minutes.

V also ranked as the third overall artist in the world to reach the milestone of 1 million likes in the shortest time with Harry Styles ranking first with 1 hour 1 minute, and BTS being the second with 1 hour 11 minutes. The tweet also ranked as the 2nd fastest tweet to reach 2 million views by doing so in 9 hours 52 minutes.

Moreover, the singer also dominated the top trending spots in various countries including Japan. He was ranked #1 on Worldwide trends with over 100,000 tweets.

While international fans were left with disbelief over his awe-inspiring looks, Korean fans have claimed V's face as their "National Treasure." Some netizens also named V a "Disney Prince", "A perfect work of art", "SNSKing" and more.

V's selfie also led to a surge of interest in Samsung Galaxy S20, the phone V can be seen holding in the selfie after it was shared on the Chinese social networking site, Weibo.

This comes as no surprise, given the global impact and immense popularity of BTS. As members of the most popular South Korean boy band in the world, they have successfully endorsed and increased the sales of products both intentionally and unintentionally, and have also caused occasional sell-outs of their endorsements in the past.

Meanwhile, BTS's main vocalist, Jungkook was recently titled "King of K-Pop" after he was ranked as the most searched K-Pop idol on Google.
