Camilla Parker Bowles has been Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “pillar of support,” according to a royal source.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex faced an intense backlash after they got candid in their recent interview. Many felt that they were complaining about their privileged lives.

According to royal biographer Katie Nicholl of Vanity Fair, sources told her that the Duchess of Cornwall has been there to support the couple. Camilla reportedly reached out to Prince Harry and Markle and gave them an advice.

“I think Camilla was probably just as surprised as anyone else when the documentary came out and perhaps didn’t realise how much Harry and Meghan were suffering,” the source said. “She wants everyone to get along and be happy. Her mantra is carry on and keep smiling. She doesn’t want to see anyone struggling and she is fond of Meghan and she could be a very good ally too.”

Sally Bedell Smith believes that Camilla is in a unique position to help Markle because the duchess has her fair share of media scrutiny. She added that Camilla can easily empathize with Markle because of what she went through with the media.

Smith also said that Prince Harry’s wife could learn so much from his step-mother. Camilla is kind and both of them have been on the receiving end of negative press. However, Camilla has learned how to cultivate a relationship with the press. Smith noted how Camilla befriended the photographers and won over the tabloids including those who tried to ruin her.

Prince Harry revealed in a past interview that Camilla is not a “wicked” stepmother. He confessed that contrary to what many believed, he and his brother Prince William are very close to their stepmother. Markle’s husband even described Camilla as a “wonderful woman.”

“She’s wonderful woman and she's made our father very, very happy which is the most important thing. William and I love her to bits,” Prince Harry said of Camilla.

Aside from Camilla, Kate Middleton has reportedly reached out to Markle to show her support following her emotional interview. However, some sources claimed that while the Duchess of Cambridge sympathized with her sister-in-law, she wanted to keep herself out of the situation.
