It’s official, the release of the second trailer of the film “Captain Marvel” is imminent.

According to a recent announcement, the latest “Captain Marvel” trailer will be released during ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.” But before the release of the new sneak peek, Marvel unveiled a new poster of the film.

The new “Captain Marvel” poster shows the two worlds of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson). The first trailer has already established that the superhero had a life on Earth as a fighter pilot, but those memories feel like dreams to her in her new life as a part of an elite military unit on the alien planet of Kree. The poster highlights the contrast between Earth’s military jets and alien ships, while Danvers is in the middle, showing off her electrifying superpowers.

According to the synopsis of the film, which is posted on the official Marvel website, the film is set in the 1990s. This is the origin story of the superheroine set in a period before the events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that the fans have seen so far. The plot will focus on Carol’s journey and how she acquires her powers.

Captain Marvel was around during all the other Marvel movies that have been released so far, but she has yet to actually make an appearance in any of them. Her name appeared towards the end of “Avengers: Infinity War” when Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) desperately tried to reach her.

The obvious question then is: why didn’t Nick contact her sooner? Will Corona Pilgrim answered this very question in an interview with Marvel. Corona Pilgrim has written the story for the comic mini-series “Captain Marvel Prelude #1.” The comic series fills the gaps between the movies “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Captain America Civil War” and “Infinity War.”

Corona Pilgrim’s comic series is directly connected to “Captain Marvel,” and it tells the story through the adventures of Nick Fury and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders). Talking about that specific post credits scene of Nick Fury calling Captain Marvel, Corona Pilgrim said that Carol is the “biggest gun” they have, and Nick Fury isn’t going to waste his “silver bullet.”

The call, according to Corona Pilgrim, was made because Nick Fury sees this as the last resort. After the events in “Infinity War” the heroes are in a desperate situation, and Earth will need the help of powerful superheroes like Carol to fight against Thanos (Josh Brolin).

The 100 days countdown to the release of “Captain Marvel” has already started on Twitter. The film is set to be released on March 8, 2019 in the U.S.
