In the newly released movie, "She Said," Carey Mulligan plays Megan Twohey, the reporter who helped expose Harvey Weinstein in the #MeToo movement that swept Hollywood, and the actress revealed she found the character relatable as she, too, felt postpartum depression.

"One of the parts of the script that hit me initially the most was Megan's experience with postnatal depression," the 37-year-old actress told People in an interview. "I had a very similar experience with my first child seven years ago."

When she welcomed her first baby girl named Evelyn Mumford in 2015, Mulligan said she "felt very alone, and very scared, and also very confused by the whole experience."

The actress recalled going back to work in the same year to work on the movie, "Suffragette," which got her on the road to finding herself again with "incredible support around me."

Postpartum Depression made her feel like she was completely on her own, Mulligan shared, noting that many women experience the same in isolation.

"Megan has experienced it, and so many of my friends have, and we all feel horrific like we're the only person who's ever been through it," she added.

The "Promising Young Woman" star shares two kids - Evelyn, 7, and Wilfred, 5 - with her British-American musician husband Marcus Mumford. The couple got married in 2012.

The upcoming movie follows the sexual harassment investigation that initiated the #MeToo movement, which, in the years that followed, exposed the inherent sexism in Hollywood as many more women found the courage to speak up.

Mulligan portrays the investigative reporter's role alongside actress Zoe Kazan, who portrayed Jodi Kantor.

Kantor and Twohey wrote a book, titled "She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement," based on the incident in 2019.

The flick revolves around the reporters' work that uncovered the sexual assault allegations against Weinstein over the years. "She Said" dropped in theaters on Nov. 18.

Aside from "She Said," Mulligan will be next seen in the movie, "Spaceman" where she will play Lenka's character. The sci-fi drama will also feature Adam Sandler, Kunal Nayyar and Petr Papánek. The actress will also appear in movies like "Maestro" and "Wildwood."
