Chelsea are preparing a £30 million bid for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini in January, according to the Sunday People. The powerful Belgium international has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for some time and now the People claims that owner Roman Abramovich has sanctioned a massive offer.

While the Blues added silky-skilled attacking midfielders Eden Hazard and Oscar in the summer, a player with the height and strength of Fellaini in the midfielder is likely to appeal to manager Roberto Di Matteo.

Fellaini has been in impressive form so far this campaign, already scoring six goals to help Everton to their current fourth place. Quotes attributed to Fellaini earlier this season suggested that he would relish a move to a bigger club.

Chelsea look set to face a major battle to land another of their major targets, though, with the Daily Telegraph reporting that Manchester City are making moves to sign Atletico Madrid’s Radomel Falcao. City boss Roberto Mancini is said to have flown to Madrid to discuss a deal with the Colombian striker’s agent, Jorge Mendes.

According to the Telegraph, the Blues would only proceed with a deal for Falcao, 26, if they sell Fernando Torres, meaning they could instead move for a younger and less expensive alternative such as Bayer Leverkusen’s Andre Schurrle.

A report in the Daily Star, however, claims that Chelsea are monitoring Barcelona forward David Villa. The 30-year-old returned from a broken leg at the start of the season but in recent weeks has been the subject of speculation about a falling out with teammate Lionel Messi.

With the emergence of youngsters Cristian Tello and Isaac Cuenca plus rumors of a deal in place for Brazilian star Neymar, the Catalans may be prepared to cash in on the former Valencia star.

There has also been further news about the future of left-back Ashley Cole. The 31-year-old’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of the season and talks appear to have stalled as a result of Chelsea’s policy of not offering longer than one year deals to players over the age of 30.

Both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have been linked with moves for the England International. According to the Sun, Cole’s Mum, Sue, has suggested in a Facebook post that he will be on his way to Paris and a reunion with former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti.
