Chris Pine's rep denied rumors that his "Don't Worry Darling" co-star Harry Styles spit on him during the movie premiere at the Venice film festival.

On Tuesday, a rep for Pine released a statement after a clip of the incident went viral.

"This is a ridiculous story — a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation," Pine's spokesperson said in a statement to People.

"Just to be clear, Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine," the rep continued, "There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist."

On Monday, a video of the moment circulated, which featured Styles walking to his seat next to Pine at the premiere. At the time, Pine was seen clapping until Styles bent down to sit and seemingly moved his lips.

In the clip, Pine immediately stops clapping, which some believed was evidence that Styles spit on his co-star. The 42-year-old went on to shake his head and laugh before reaching down to grab his sunglasses.

Sources close to Styles also dismissed speculation about the spitting incident as "not true," according to The Guardian.

The statement from Pine's rep comes amid ongoing speculation that "Don't Worry Darling" director Olivia Wilde has been feuding with the film's lead, Florence Pugh.

Pugh has not participated in much promotion for the movie and did not attend the press conference.

However, Wilde did address the actress' absence when she was asked to "clear the air" about the alleged feud with Pugh.

"Florence is a force. We are so grateful she's able to make it tonight [for the red carpet] despite being in production on 'Dune.' I know, as a director, how disruptive it is to lose an actor even for a day, so I'm very grateful to her, and to ['Dune' director Denis Villeneuve] for helping us. And we'll get to celebrate her work tonight. I can't say how honored I am to have her as our lead. She's amazing," Wilde said.

"As for all the endless tabloid gossip and all the noise out there, the Internet feeds itself. I don't feel the need to contribute; I think it's sufficiently well-nourished," she added.

Since the premiere of "Don't Worry Darling," the film has received unfavorable reviews, though Pugh has been praised for her performance.
