After this week's release of the much-awaited Dark Mode feature on Gmail for iOS and Android, the tech giant is adding another major update for the Android mobile operating system. The Mountain View-based company has just released the latest version of the Google Chrome mobile browser, the all-new Chrome 87, for the Android-powered devices.

According to Android Authority, the latest Chrome 78 mobile browser brings a few upgrades and important bug fixes for Chrome on Android. But, the single biggest feature is the much-awaited Dark Mode feature. In addition to that, this latest Chrome on Android update also brings stability and performance improvements.

Here’s how to turn on the latest Dark Mode feature on Chrome on Android

Go to the device’s main menu, hit Settings and, then, the Themes. Once inside the Themes, select from the three options, the System default, Light theme and, finally, the Dark theme. The System default will only switch to dark mode if Android 10’s system-wide dark mode is already switched on and, also, if the Android device is running on battery saver mode.

Chrome 87 also hits the iOS platform

It's not just the Android platform, the latest Chrome update also adds support for the iOS 13 Dark Mode feature. But, unlike in Android where the Dark Mode feature can be set by the users on an app-by-app basis, Chrome on iOS browser respects the system-wide Dark Mode setting with no ability to manually opt-out.

The latest update also improves Bookmarks, Recent Tabs, Reading Lists and History functionalities. Google also redesigns some part of the mobile browser with the release of the card-based UI. Other important improvements include a new Done button, which can be found at the top-right corner of the mobile browser and a new feature that allows users to add a new credit card directly from the Chrome setting page.

The latest version of Chrome on iOS is now available for download at Apple App Store. Check out the Chrome 87 release notes for more about the new latest improvements made.
