At least four members of a family, including nine-year-old twin boys, were shot dead at their home in Puerto Rico’s Trujillo Alto town Wednesday, two days after a family member filed a police report that someone was trying to kill him.

Police said 23-year-old Luis Ramos Wickline went to police Monday after someone attempted to kill him. However, while reporting the incident, the man was taken into custody for outstanding carjacking and assault charges. Cops believe Luis’ parents, identified as 47-year-old Edwin Ramos and 40-year-old Dorothy Wickline, and his twin brothers were killed in retaliation against the man filing the complaint.

Speaking to local media, investigators said the family was shot dead shortly after they returned home after celebrating New Year's Eve. Police said while Dorothy was shot in the living room, her husband was attacked in the balcony. The two children were shot dead in one of the bedrooms. The couple’s teen son was also shot in the arm and leg during the attack and remained in hospital.

Police said they will question Luis and that no arrests were made as of Wednesday evening. They were investigating the incident and have already interviewed some of the neighbors as part of it.
