A cause of death for star bodybuilder Dallas McCarver was not immediately revealed, but netizens on Twitter and Instagram assumed he died from steroid use. Reports, however, claimed he died Tuesday from apparently choking on food. He was 26 years old.

“If you say he wasn't on roods you're ignorant. The juice was definitely loose in him @scottbishops_ but nonetheless respect and rip,” strawnlb wrote on McCarver’s final Instagram video, which had more than 1 million views as of Wednesday.

While they were plenty of people who didn’t believe the bodybuilder died from choking, fans were quick to attack anyone that accused McCarver, also known as “Big Country,” of using steroids.

“Let me guess you think he was on steroids to I swear you people are dumb.so quick to say someone is cheating because you can't do it.....like Jay Cutler said practice on eating 8 times a day then go lift weights and see if you really can do it..I'm going to 290 this year just for big country!!” scottbishops_ wrote.

“He had a heart of GOLD & a smile that could light up a room. Instead keyboard warriors come on here yelling ‘Steroids!’ Really?!? Nobody truly knows what happened! Some sources say he choked on food & others say different. If it was steroids what's your point? Someone dies who was big ‘OMG it's the fucking Roids,’” part of a lengthy defense from grindhardtalkless read.

Some Twitter users also accused McCarver of using steroids.

McCarver’s girlfriend, WWE star Dana Brooke, wrote a lengthy tribute to the bodybuilder after he died.

“He had a way with making people laugh!! Dallas was an exceptional body builder, but I didn't see him for that... I saw him for HIM AND HIS HEART!! He is the best individual I have ever met — my ying to my yang... finished my sentences and knew what I was thinking before I'd say it!!” she said. “You were my life. You are my life. I still smell [you] and feel [your] presence, NEVER LEAVE MY SIDE. Like I have always asked; and u said NO NEVER Mrs. McCarver — I had your back and I knew you had mine!! You’re our angel.”

While McCarver never admitted or denied using steroids, star bodybuilder Rich Piana was open about juicing. He has been doing steroids for more than 20 years. “If you have the choice to stay natural or do steroids, stay natural. There’s no reason to do steroids, you’re only hurting your body, you’re hurting yourself,” he said in an April 2016 YouTube video. “If you want to become a professional bodybuilder, guess what – you’re probably going to have to f---in’ do ‘em. You’re not going to have a choice.”

Earlier in the month, Piana passed out and was placed in a medically induced coma. Rumors swirled the 46-year-old died, but girlfriend Chanel Jansen told fans he was “OK” and recovering in the hospital.
