The ALDC girls from Pittsburgh are headed down under. After being invited to perform at the 2015 ASTRA Awards in Sydney, Abby Lee Miller and her elite junior team will venture to Australia in Season 5, episode 20. Not only will the girls walk the event’s red carpet, they will also perform. But it may not go off without a hitch.

When Abby misplaces her passport, the ALDC team will be forced to make the big trip alone. Abby's late arrival will result in her star dancer, Maddie Ziegler, 12, having to make up for her absence. “Maddie is asked to go in her place to an interview,” Lifetime’s synopsis for “Dance Moms Down Under, Part 1” reveals. And while Maddie is a professional when it comes to media, attending the interview will cause her to “miss a crucial rehearsal,” resulting in “turmoil” backstage at the ASTRA Awards, the summary teases.

“It’s exciting. This is their debut to the Australian media,” dance mom Holly Frazier says in the episode promo.

Maddie reveals that she doesn’t share a similar feeling. After calling the awards show performance “nerve-wracking,” one shot shows the dancer appearing to fall mid-turn. (An amateur video of the performance shows Maddie did not fall.) In the next sequence, she appear to get a tongue lashing from Abby.

“Just remember with fame, you never know when your star is going to end,” Abby says to Maddie and the rest of her elite junior team in the episode trailer. The comment is followed by a shot of Maddie looking visibly upset and leaving the green room.

And Maddie’s drama is not all that’s in store for the ALDC in part one of the Australia special. According to Lifetime’s synopsis, dance mom Jessalynn Siwa will voice her upset over a video of her daughter JoJo’s teammates “making fun" of the 11-year-old dancer. The summary reveals that Jessalynn will “confront the moms” over the viral clip which was filmed during the team’s appearance in Ireland in March.
