She has managed to keep the truth about how she broke Lani and Eli up a secret for more than a year, but Gabi will have to work hard to keep things from being exposed as Eli questions her reaction to Lani being back in Salem on the Wednesday, Jan. 8 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

Gabi (Camilla Banus) quickly went to work after Lani (Sal Stowers) returned to Salem trying to threaten her and force her to leave town once again with the threat that she would blow Julie’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) heart up again on the NBC soap. Not long after, it came out that Lani was the nun who smashed the Gabi Chic window, and Eli went for answers about why she would do that. Determined not to give up her own plot for revenge now, Lani only told Eli that Gabi made her literally beg for Stefan’s heart to save Julie. Eli then went to Gabi and told her Lani claimed she had done something to her, and Gabi immediately got defensive.

Now, as Eli wonders why she is doing that, Gabi will be forced to try and figure out a way to backpedal and get him away from the real story.

“Gabi tries to cover her tracks with Eli,” spoilers reveal.

Naturally, Eli can’t learn that she was the reason Lani called off their wedding, or that she has been threatening to kill his grandmother by controlling her pacemaker. For now, she’ll likely be able to keep him at bay, but she will need to work extra hard if she wants to make sure he never learns the truth.

However, Lani isn’t sitting quietly and might be working her own angle in the plot by getting someone other than just Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) involved.

“Lani confides in JJ (Casey Moss), who offers his help,” spoilers state.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
