Demi Lovato has been one of the few celebrities who never shied away from showing her vulnerable side to her fans. In 2018, she went through a rough patch after suffering a near-fatal overdose and entered a rehab center for addiction. Since then she has been opening up about the time she spent in rehab and how it changed her as a person.

The acclaimed musician has been sharing a lot of details about her road to recovery and now, Lovato has revealed a new tattoo that represents what kind of woman she has become after getting to know how precious her life is.

Taking it to Instagram, the 27-year-old singer unveiled a new tattoo that she got recently that seems to be a representation of all the hardships she went through after the overdose. The “Confident” hitmaker started her note by telling fans that she recently went “dark” on social media to prepare for her Grammy and Super Bowl performances. But she took some time off and got this “meaningful” tattoo.

The musician continued by sharing that the tattoo symbolizes the “spiritual awakening” she has been witnessing in recent times.

“While I was off socials I got this incredibly meaningful tattoo done by @alessandro_capozzi. No Idea what I was going to get done, I told him about my life and where I was at in that moment and we created a combination on images that best symbolized the spiritual awakening I was having,” Lovato said.

She also gave a perfect look at her new tattoo by posting a photo of her back. The tattoo features a fallen angel with dark wings being lifted by three doves. For Lovato, the picture is much more than what people think it is. She believes the disintegration of dark wings is a representation of the darkness she was shedding while recovering.

“Having a fallen angel being lifted by 3, pure, angelic doves (the Holy Trinity) as her inner light is being guided by a higher consciousness, and the disintegration of her dark wings was representing the darkness I was shedding. Alessandro - you are extremely talented and I can't wait for more!!” Lovato said.

The artist, Alessandro Capozzi, shared the photo of her tattoo on his profile, too, and expressed her gratitude toward the “Sorry Not Sorry” hitmaker.

Last year, Lovato opened up about a lot of things that she learned during her time in rehab and shared that the most important thing for her now is to live “for herself” and never be “someone that you are not.”

Speaking with Teen Vogue, she noted that her journey in the past five years has been an eyeopener because she has learned that life is “not worth living” unless you are living for yourself. On the professional front, Lovato will be hosting a new talk show soon, ET Online reported. The 10-episode series will show the singer discussing a range of issues like sex, relationship and wellness.
