Driver Masturbates In Front Of British Tourist Inside Cab, Threatens Them

A cab driver is accused of masturbating in front of a tourist from the U.K. and her friend while driving the duo to a hotel in Delhi, India.

The woman preponed her ticket and left the country following the incident, the Indian police said Sunday.

The British tourist, who works as a lawyer, landed with her friend at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Friday and booked a cab through a mobile app to get themselves to their hotel, according to The Times of India.

The driver, identified as Maakhan Lal, picked the friends up and was driving them to their five-star hotel when the incident took place.

Lal masturbated in front of them inside the cab, police said. He then threatened the women when they confronted him.

"The woman and her friend caught the driver and objected (to his action). However, he misbehaved with them and threatened them to not tell anyone. The complainant called the police and gave a verbal complaint," a senior police officer said.

The London-based lawyer gave police officers her account of the events and left within a few hours of the case being registered.

Cops eventually arrested Lal for the incident. He was later released on bail, Indian Express reported.

The two had plans of staying in Delhi as well as traveling to the state of Rajasthan during their stay in India, all of which was cut short after the terrible cab ride from the airport.

"We have been told she had booked her return flight ticket in advance. We arrested the accused based on the evidence and statement," the officer added.

Lal, who is originally from the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, spent the last six months working as a cab driver.

A similar incident was reported in 2021 when a 58-year-old Lyft driver assaulted a teen boy in Virginia. Ejaz Hussain drove the boy to school the same morning and shared his contact information, which the 17-year-old later used to call him for a ride back home later that day. Hussain was accused of sexually assaulting the boy while driving him home. The boy notified a family member after exiting the vehicle, leading to Hussain being arrested and charged with sexual battery.
