KEY POINTS

  • A video of a streetfight between a "Jeff Goldblum" lookalike and a shorter guy has gone viral
  • The tall guy has a striking resemblance to the "Jurassic Park" actor
  • The lookalike delivered smooth karate moves that made his opponent eventually surrender

Authorities are investigating a viral video that shows two guys slugging it out in a Richmond, Virginia neighborhood. According to reports, the epic street fight of the two unnamed individuals was captured on camera by 24-year-old Justin Townsend, who was also living in the same area. One of the men bears a striking resemblance to "Jurassic Park" and "Independence Day" actor Jeff Goldblum, while his opponent was a bare-chested guy who appeared to be shorter than him.

Agile Moves

The first ten seconds of the video shows the two men with fists ready to strike. The shirtless man appeared to be telling the lookalike something, which was inaudible in the video. The shorter guy then landed a kick on the latter’s knees, followed by a fist to his face. Far from being deterred, the Goldblum-lookalike landed several blows to the face and body of the other guy before delivering smooth karate moves.

The shorter guy, despite the realization that his foe might be a good fighter, continued with the fight. It was then that “Goldblum” delivered a sweeping kick that closely resembled a martial arts move called 360 Crescent, stunning the shirtless man. The force of the blow sent him reeling backward into a parked car. At that point, the lookalike landed blows at will at the shirtless man who was unable to fend off most of them.

Finally, the shorter guy may have had enough and so raised both his arms in a gesture of surrender. “Goldblum,” who seemed determined to leave a lasting impact, delivered a final kick on the side of the other guy. The video ended with the shirtless man walking away in obvious pain with hands at the side of his stomach.

Becoming Viral

Townsend uploaded the video clip to his Twitter account, where it garnered more than 7 million views, becoming an instant viral hit within a few hours. He said the fight started around 7 p.m. within the Carver neighborhood in the capital city of Virginia.

In an interview with The Post, Townsend said that “Goldblum” has just arrived home from work and perhaps parked his scooter in the wrong place. “So the shirtless guy was really mad and just started cussing him out and started calling him every racial slur in the book, even though they’re both white,” Townsend told The Post. He added that both men were treated by medics after their fight.

No Charges

Gene Lepley, the Richmond police public affairs officer, said they responded immediately after getting reports of a brawl. He added that they have talked to both men but did not make any arrests as neither wanted to press charges.
