Ubisoft has been slowly but surely building anticipation for "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" through timely leaks and deliberate reveals. One of these, though, was taken down before it could spread. It was for a female model of the Viking hero assassin, Eivor.

According to Game Rant, the hero Eivor was revealed in one of the game's many online trailers. The female version of the character was put on Ubisoft's website, only to be removed. Whether this is to drum up interest from fans or just an honest mistake remains to be seen, but it seems to be working – some fans are reportedly thinking about what this means for the franchise and for the game.

This is not the first "Assassin's Creed" game to have a female lead, if in case it does happen that Eivor can be female. "Assassin's Creed Odyssey" offered players the option to choose the sex of their character. Once this is done, the choice has a lasting impact on how the story will go. It may be that Ubisoft felt it is too soon to reveal that players could choose to be one sex or the other.

The female Eivor was supposed to be part of a sticker pack for the game. Fans choose to speculate that it may be revealed at a later time, when the release date is closer. It is strange that Ubisoft remains tight-lipped about the female version of the lead, or if she will be available as a player option at all. What remained sure is that there are a lot of mysteries yet to be revealed about the soon-to-be-launched game.

Perhaps, all will be revealed in time, or sooner than players and fans may think. The game has been put up for pre-orders at Walmart and Amazon for $50, Gamespot reported.

The game is headed to different platforms – the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, latter versions PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia. Aside from the diverse platforms, the game will also offer four different versions based on these platforms.

"Assassin's Creed Valhalla" will be available during the holiday season. Pre-orders will also be packaged with a bonus content named "The Way of the Berserker."
