In a case of double-murder, a man killed his girlfriend and her partner before setting their room on fire. The incident took place in Loughman, Florida, on Friday.

Police responded to a home Friday night after receiving information that the house was on fire. However, by the time the officials arrived, the fire was already extinguished. The officers entered the home and found the bodies of a man and a woman in the master bedroom. There was blood all around the bedroom and the victims had injuries on their bodies. The officials noted an odor of gasoline and soon found a gas can inside the home. Investigation revealed that the woman’s boyfriend, identified as Kenyatta Bellamy, had committed the crime.

It was revealed that the accused, who was in jail for failure to appear for a DUI manslaughter case, bonded out of jail on March 24 and returned to the home to find another man living with his girlfriend. On Friday, he entered the home and found the two having sex. He “lost it” and in a fit of rage, he killed the victims with a hammer and a knife before setting the bedroom on fire. The blaze extinguished by itself before the emergency responders arrived.

The accused was taken into custody and during interrogation, he confessed to the crime and said he had allowed his girlfriend to live in the home while he was in prison. He was booked into jail and charged with murder and arson.

Speaking about the incident, Sheriff Grady Judd said, “If this suspect had remained in jail where he belonged, these two victims would still be alive. We are still piecing together why, after spending almost a year in jail, he was allowed to bond out. This is an awful tragedy that should never have happened. These people were brutally murdered, and an 8-year-old boy is left without a mother. And according to Bellamy's criminal history, this is the third separate event where he's caused someone's death.”
