“Frozen 2” became a big hit after its launch to the global audience last week. However, movie buffs have noticed that the story and the ending are very similar to the plot of Bruce Willis’ 1997 movie “The Fifth Element.”

The following article contains spoilers from “Frozen 2” and “The Fifth Element.”

The highly anticipated animation sequel told the story of Elsa’s (Idina Menzel) powers. The four spirits, representing the four elements, were angry, and the sisters had to set things right to stop the destruction of Arendelle. Elsa was able to do this by embracing the fact that she is the fifth spirit, which was revealed as the reason why she was given her magical powers.

According to CBR, the story is very similar to the 1997 Sci-Fi flick “The Fifth Element.” In the movie, Milla Jovovich plays the role of Leelooo, who was supposed to protect humanity from extinction by combining her powers with four stones that each represent earth, water, fire, and wind.

In “The Fifth Element,” clues about what happened in the past, and about how the save humanity were left in the pyramids of ancient Egypt. “Frozen 2” has a similar device with the runes in the Enchanted Forest giving the heroes clues about the past, and about how to save the future.

The similarities between the two movies haven’t stopped the Disney film from reaching a new record at the box office. According to Variety, the animation movie is going to make a record $140 million during the upcoming Thanksgiving holidays in North America.

One differentiating factor between “Frozen 2” and “The Fifth Element,” is that the former is filled with songs and music. Songwriters Bobby Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that they took a trip to Norway, Iceland, and Alaska to get the inspiration to write the new music.
