There will be no Season 3 for Fox’s Marvel series, “The Gifted.”

Fox has chosen to cancel the superhero drama after only two seasons instead of renewing it for Season 3, according to Variety. The series, which was set in the “X-Men” universe, followed a group of underground mutants working together to survive against a government that hated and hunted them.

Season 1 ran from October 2017 through January 2018, and Season 2 aired from September 2018 until just a couple of months ago.

The Season 2 finale, titled “oMens,” which aired on Feb. 26, now doubles as the show’s series finale.

After the cancellation news broke late last night, “The Gifted” cast members have started to share their reactions on social media. The stars are giving their thanks to fans, their goodbyes to their characters and their love to their fellow castmates.

Natalie Alyn Lind (Lauren Strucker)

“Extremely grateful. Thank you to all of our incredible fans, who have shown us unconditional love and devotion,” the actress wrote on Twitter. “You have my entire heart. And I’m the luckiest girl to be apart of the X-men, @Marvel & @FOXTV family. Lauren Strucker will forever be part of me.”

Lind continued on her Instagram Story: “My heart is sore from tonight’s news but extremely full from the experience. We love you and thank you for being part of our entire journey.”

Sean Teale (Marcos Diaz / Eclipse)

“Love this cast. Love this crew,” he posted to Instagram Story. “Love this character. Thanks to all who tune in — love you too.”

Skyler Samuels (The Frost Sisters)

“I don’t know if these are sad tears or happy tears,” she said in a video posted to her Instagram Story. “It’s sort of like a weird in-between place, but I’m so grateful for everyone who cheered on ‘The Gifted.’ It is definitely over too soon, but, damn, it was worth every moment.

“I got to go to work with my best friends every day for two years and be a part of a show that I was proud of and I’m so grateful for the opportunity and thank you to everyone who cheered us on and was a part of that journey. We couldn’t have done it without you and you will always a part of the ‘Gifted’ story.”

Jamie Chung (Clarice Fong / Blink)

“Just one of many blows today,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “This has been hands down the best cast and crew I’ve ever worked with.”

For fans who want to rewatch (or finish watching) the complete series, “The Gifted” is available to stream on Hulu.
