Hannibal
Mason Verger (Michael Pitt, pictured) will be back in "Hannibal" Season 3. NBC

“Hannibal” might have a long wait before it returns for Season 3, but that doesn’t mean fans can’t get a small taste of what’s coming in the new episodes. TV Line is reporting that a villain from the first few seasons will be back in 2015 to play an even bigger role.

Mason Verger (Michael Pitt), the comically sadistic heir to the Verger Meat Packing Dynasty, will return for Season 3, according to TV Line. Verger appeared in three episodes of Season 2 in May 2014, ending with episode 12, Tome-wan. Fans will remember that Will (Hugh Dancy) had to save Hannibal (Mads Mikelsen) from Verger, who had Hannibal hanging from a rope to be eaten by his pigs. Hannibal got revenge though, drugging Verger and coercing him into eating parts of his own face.

A disfigured Verger will return in Season 3. Pitt, most famous for his work as Jimmy on “Boardwalk Empire,” will reprise his role.

TV Line reports that “Hannibal” is currently casting the role of Cordell, Verger’s personal doctor. The “quiet, very intelligent and definitely creepy” personal aide may end up being Verger’s right-hand man as Verger returns as one of the new season’s biggest villains.

Verger’s return is not all that surprising, given he is the main antagonist of the “Hannibal” novel on which much of the third season of the NBC show is based. Season 3 begins in April or May of 2015, according to Fuller, and will see Hannibal hiding out under an assumed identity in Florence as Will tracks him down.
