An employee with retail giant the Home Depot praised the New Zealand shooter who carried out an attack Friday in the city of Christchurch, killing 50 people and injuring dozens others. Screenshots of the Facebook messages sent out by the Home Depot employee Stacy Sanders were shared on Twitter.

"Protect a people who would kill them without a second thought... god bless the shooter.. I know he won't get a fair trial but he did the right thing for his family and his people and his countrymen," he wrote in one of the messages.

In response to the message, several social media users slammed Sanders, who said in one of the comments he works at the company's Sanford store at the receiving department. He also mentioned his store manager's first name, John. His profile also clearly showed his place of work.

"The amount of pure f------ stupidity and blindness, congrats. You have actually made me dumbfound to the point im not sure how to begin to respond," one user wrote.

Another Twitter user called on the retail company to bring to its notice the views of one of its employees.

Australian born Brenton Tarrant live streamed the attack on two mosques in Christchurch and also released a manifesto expressing his ideology and hatred for Muslims. Police recovered two semi-automatic weapons, two shotguns and a lever-action firearm during the investigation, all of which were legally obtained by the attacker as he had a category-A gun license.

The incident has led to a big change in the gun laws of New Zealand, with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announcing Thursday a ban on all military-style semi-automatic weapons, assault rifles and high capacity magazines across the country.
