House of Cards
Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) will be facing some new problems as President. Netflix

When Season 2 of Netflix’s “House of Cards” ended, Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) was knocking his ring on the desk of the Oval office after having just manipulated his way to the presidency. Frank is now on top of the metaphorical house of cards, but things get a bit shaky at the top when you have nowhere to go, but down. In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, series creator Beau Willimon teased what problems Frank and wife Claire (Robin Wright) will be facing in Season 3.

Having come to power as a result of the previous president’s resignation, Frank will be facing some added pressure when Season 3 premieres on Netflix Friday.

“The nature of the presidency is one that is wrought with responsibility and pressure,” Willimon told the Hollywood Reporter. “That's true of any president, but if you imagine any president who assumed office without a vote being cast for him, and on the heels of a major scandal, I think it's safe to assume the road will not be easy.”

As for Frank and Claire, the power couple might be at odds over how to handle their new advantageous position.

“We've always known these two people make each other stronger, that without each other they are not nearly as formidable as the two of them working together," Willimon said. “Now that they've achieved this mutual goal, what does it mean to each of them? They worked so hard and have done a lot of bad stuff together there. They both must have a point of view about it, and they're going to have experiences that are similar and different.”

Fans hoping for more specific details about Frank and Claire's situation will have to wait for the new episodes to premiere. Willimon was reportedly unwilling to dish more about the new season, saying enough has already been spoiled by the unexplained leak of the season on Netflix earlier this month when every episode was mistakenly available for about 20 minutes. While that may not be a lot of time, it was enough for some savvy fans to snag episode descriptions and screenshots of some key scenes.

The leak, though, will soon be irrelevant. Every episode of “House of Cards” Season 3 will be available for streaming on Netflix this Friday, and fans will finally see how the country will run under President Underwood.
