How To Get Away With Murder” Season 1, episode 10, was jam-packed with drama. From showing audiences what happened when Annalise (Viola Davis) found the body to Connor (Jack Falahee) and Michaela (Aja Naomi King) trying to go to the police, not a moment was relaxed in the midseason premiere.

Annalise went to the police to tell them her husband was missing. She claimed that she only found out about the affair Sam (Tom Verica) had with Lila (Megan West) last night. She said part of the truth. She told the investigators Sam got angry after she said officials would run a DNA test on Lila’s fetus and find out if it was his. She claimed her husband was in a rage, so she left the house. As she recounted coming back to an empty house, Annalise flashed back to finding her husband’s dead body.

Wes (Alfred Enoch) told her everything that happened. She told him to burn the body and get rid of the remains. “Trust me, I got you into this, and it’s my job to get you out of it. Now go and do what you’ve been told,” Annalise said to Wes.

It turns out she knew about Sam’s death the whole time she was with Nate (Billy Brown) and even when she left the emotional voicemail on Sam’s phone. It’s all part of her alibi. She told the cops she was with Nate, although she didn’t tell them that they were having an affair.

The next day, Annalise had one thing to focus on: prove that Sam should be the main suspect for Lila’s murder and get the charges against Rebecca (Katie Findlay) dropped. However, Wes wanted to tell the others that she was in on everything. They would feel better knowing they were getting her help. “I’m not helping you. I’m helping myself,” Annalise said.

She was the wife who discovered her husband’s affair. She would be the first suspect. Annalise wouldn’t let him tell the others that she knows, but she needed them to be less paranoid around the cops investigating her house -- although some people didn’t believe it was a real missing persons case. The D.A., Wendy Parks (Alysia Reiner), thinks Annalise somehow staged the disappearance of her husband. She assumed that it was a new scare tactic, but Wendy claimed she would prove Griffin (Lenny Platt) and Rebecca killed Lila.

Annalise apologized to Rebecca for not telling the cops about Sam’s affair sooner. It made Rebecca suspicious that she knew. Wes’ calm vibe made Rebecca even more suspicious.

However, clearing her name wasn’t easy. Wes “suggests” using Sam’s laptop to track where his phone backed up. Wendy already had the laptop even though she claimed Sam wasn’t a suspect. When Annalise tried to get files from a clinic where Lila may have scheduled an abortion, she was denied. Finally her team found a loophole. They could get security footage from the abortion clinic via subpoena.

The good news didn’t stop with a subpoena. Frank handed her the DNA results. “He’s the father,” Annalise said. She looked relieved and Frank knew something was wrong.

“What the hell, Annalise?” Frank asks. “No one is this relieved when they find out their husband knocked up a dead girl.”

Frank demands to know what’s going on and Annalise said she would tell him. He just wasn’t allowed to tell Bonnie (Liza Weil).

The security footage brought more good news. It revealed Lila and Sam fighting in the waiting room. They brought the receptionist from the clinic into court to be questioned. She thought that Lila seemed like she didn’t want to be there at all. Annalise told the judge that her husband fathered Lila’s baby, but the judge still thought her evidence was circumstantial. The judge ordered the D.A. to give up Sam’s laptop to a forensics expert who would be able to tell if Sam was at the sorority house the night Lila was murdered.

The forensics expert tracked Sam’s phone using the backup on his computer -- exactly what Nate wanted Rebecca to do in the midseason finale. He found that Sam was at Lila’s sorority house from 1:10 a.m. to 1:29 a.m. According to the medical examiner, Lila died between 12 and 6 a.m. that night. Sam is officially the main suspect in the Lila Stanguard murder case.

The charges against Rebecca were dropped. “Her husband was just named the prime suspect in the Lila Stanguard murder," Bonnie told reporters. "I think she deserves a little privacy.”

Annalise isn’t going to be praised for turning her husband in. While in the restroom, she heard other women criticize her for what they see as a betrayal. “Not even an animal is that heartless,” one of the women said. Despite this, Annalise walks out and washes her hands next to them in an awkward silence.

The views of her peers aren’t Annalise’s main concern anymore. Her husband is officially a murder suspect, but she needs to keep her students from the same fate. Connor and Michaela were paranoid. They feared getting caught, and Connor seriously considered going to the cops. Laurel warned him, however, that the other three will go against the one. It would all be pinned on anyone who tried to place blame first.

Unfortunately, they all have to keep their cool in interviews with the police. Wes claimed he hadn’t seen Sam in two days. He for some reason also told them that he was dating Rebecca.

Laurel was similarly convincing. She even planted evidence against Sam. “Sometimes Mr. Keating would look at me. … In a sexual way. Please don’t tell Professor Keating,” she said.

Michaela also managed to keep her act together during questioning, but she said they drove to bonfire in Connor’s SUV. Asher already said the SUV was in the driveway, so Michaela backtracked and claimed that they parked at the Keating house.

Before Connor’s interview, he tried to convince Michaela to come forward and she gave in quickly. “They’ll be more lenient with us if we turn ourselves in,” Connor said to Laurel.

They went up to the police station together, but Annalise and Wes were there waiting for them. Laurel called them. She knew Annalise knew what they did because Frank knew everything. He called Laurel a hypocrite at the courthouse. “You have the nerve to treat me like scum after what you did?” he asked.

Wes had to go to Annalise and convince her that they needed to know she knew what they did. “They’ll only listen to you, please,” Wes begged.

“I can give you a million reasons why this plan won’t go your way or you can just trust me,” Annalise said. “I don’t blame you. If I did, I would’ve turned you in the night that it happened.”

She assured her students that this would end well. “Let me help you because if you do I promise, you will get away with this,” she claimed.

Connor managed to keep it together in his interview. Annalise apparently gave him a lot of confidence. “I just hope that he’s man enough to come back and fix what he’s done,” Connor says.

The twist came at the end of the episode when Anna Keating (Marcia Gay Harden), Sam’s sister, came to town. “Let me be clear, my brother is no murderer,” she told a cop. It might not be easy to prove Sam guilty with someone fighting for his innocence.
