TikTok is more than just a simple social media platform nowadays — it's also a money-making business for many creators. A number of TikTok users are earning millions of dollars each year posting short videos.

The primary way that social media users earn through TikTok videos after building a following is by partnering with brands for sponsored content, according to Refinery29. Marketing experts have suggested that some of the most popular personalities on the platform can charge up to $200,000 per post, The Guardian reported.

3. Dixie D’Amelio

Dixie D’Amelio trails behind her younger sister Charli in terms of followers, but she is still among the most popular creators on TikTok with 53.1 million followers as of writing.

A 2020 Forbes estimate said she made $2.9 million from sponsorships, production opportunities and merchandise. She signed joint deals last year with clothing company Hollister and with cosmetics brand Morphe.

However, Dixie's earnings may be much higher now as she has since released more music, appeared in TV shows and hosted her own YouTube series.

2. Charli D’Amelio

The second highest-earning TikTok star, according to Forbes, is Charli D'Amelio, who boasts a staggering 119.4 million followers on the platform. She was the first user to reach 100 million followers on the platform.

Charli has made a guest appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and opened for the Jonas Brothers at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn with Bebe Rexha. The young social media star also worked with brands such as EOS cosmetics and launched her own merchandise.

She charges at least $100,000 for each sponsored post, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Charli was reportedly paid $1 million to appear in a Super Bowl commercial for Sabra hummus last year.

According to a 2020 Forbes estimate, Charli has made $4 million from her various projects and partnerships.

1. Addison Rae Easterling

Addison Rae Easterling is one of the earliest users on the social media platform. She has steadily grown her fanbase and now has a follower count of 81.7 million.

Before reaching stardom in TikTok, Easterling was a former competitive dancer and used her skills to attract fans with her short dance videos.

After gaining popularity, she launched her own merchandise and partnered with companies such as Reebok and watch company Daniel Wellington for sponsored content, Forbes reported. In July 2020, Easterling became the main global spokesperson for American Eagle and began hosting a weekly Spotify podcast with her mom, Sheri Nicole, called "Mama Knows Best."

Easterling also launched her own makeup line called Item Beauty last year.

According to Forbes, all of these netted Easterling a whopping $5 million in income.
