Prince William and Kate Middleton reportedly only worsened Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s private jet fiasco.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are in hot water for taking four private flights in 11 days while championing the environment. Prince Harry and Markle give the public an impression that they are eco-warriors by calling the people to do their bits of good for the environment, but they do not practice what they preach.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge reportedly worsened the issue when they took a budget flight to Scotland. Prince William and Middleton were photographed taking a commercial flight with their three kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis when they visited Queen Elizabeth II in Balmoral Castle.

TV personality Nicola McLean believed that the move was untimely. She criticized the royal couple, especially Prince William, for doing it amid the controversy his younger brother is facing.

“I think it’s really bad of his brother to go on the commercial flight so close after he did the private jet,” McLean said on “Jeremy Vine.

“I wouldn’t have done that to my sister. I do feel sorry for them because everything they are going to do, they are going to get slated and hounded.”

Just like McLean many questioned the timing of Prince William and Middleton’s decision to take a commercial flight because it happened amid the intense backlash that the Sussexes received for flying in private jets. Many believed that it was just a PR stunt.

Royal expert Marlene Koenig described it as a PR stunt. She believed that the Cambridge were advised to do so and they complied because they thought it would look good on them. However, according to Koenig it was backfiring at them.

Meanwhile, Prince William and Middleton’s supporters stressed that taking commercial flights aren’t new to the royal couple. They have been flying in budget airlines for years and long before Prince Harry and Markle’s jet lag fiasco even started. Also, their trip to Scotland was already planned months ago, so they had probably bought their plane tickets already.

“They have always used budget airlines for private get always and Royal Engagement to,” Millie Gaitan wrote. “They practice what they suggest to everyone else to consider when they travel. And kudos to the Duchess and Duke if Cambridge for trying to lead by example to their children.”
