“I Am Jazz” star Jazz Jennings was pretty upset to hear that she will be needing another skin grift for her bottom surgery. At the same time, she couldn’t hide how head over heels she was for her boyfriend in the latest episode.

In this week’s installment of the TLC series, Jazz couldn’t hide her disappointment after learning from her doctor that she will need to undergo another skin graft procedure for her private part. The 18-year-old admitted that she was “devastated” when Dr. Marci Bowers told her via FaceTime about the surgery.

In the previous episode, fans saw Jazz going through an unexpected second surgery as part of the last phase in her transformation. She seemed to be healing well, but then she was told this week that Dr. Marci didn’t see the progress she was hoping for following the operation. And so Jazz will need to have another skin graft to cosmetically enhance the appearance of her vagina.

“I knew it was going to be a long process, but I didn’t think it was going to go down like this and that I would need this third skin graft operation,” she said. “I try to stay positive, but this news is just really devastating.”

Dr. Marci explained to Jazz that for the third surgery, they will be taking some skin graft from her thigh. It took a moment for Jazz to collect herself upon hearing about the procedure. After which she asked her doctor, “How beautiful do you think my vagina will end up looking?”

When Dr. Marci told her that there will be “compromises” and that the end-result will certainly not be “scar-free,” Jazz couldn’t help but tear up. Jazz was then comforted by her mother, Jeanette, who also voiced her concern over the seemingly “never-ending” surgeries earlier in the episode.

Meanwhile, Jazz also dropped a bombshell in episode 7 when she told her parents that she has a boyfriend. Jazz’s special someone is Ahmir Steward, who hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. According to the young LGBT rights activist, her 19-year-old boyfriend has graduated high school but is currently not in college and is unemployed.

Based on his Instagram bio, Ahmir is actually a blogger. He also made it clear that just like Morgan Freeman, he loathes the term “homophobia.” In Jazz’s latest Instagram post, she praised her beau for being “one of the kindest, most creative and brilliant people I’ve ever met.”

Jazz and Ahmir met in Philadelphia Transgender Health Conference. Since then, the two have maintained a long distance relationship. However, Jazz wants to formally introduce Ahmir to her parents so she asked him to visit Florida.

Spoilers revealed that in episode 8, Ahmir is coming to Florida to meet Jazz’s family. Jazz’s parents are excited to meet her boyfriend, but then they think that their daughter could be diving into her new relationship a little too fast. Still, Jazz’s dad, Greg, is eager to meet Ahmir because he wants to know what Jazz “finds so appealing and interesting” about her beau.

Then there’s Jazz’s desire to explore sexual things. She told her parents in the episode that now that she has a boyfriend, she wants to learn how to kiss and “do other things that people do in relationships.” Of course this didn’t sit well with Greg and Jeanette. The latter even reminded Jazz that she still needs to wait months after surgery before she could have sex.

“I Am Jazz” Season 5 is coming back to TLC next Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET for episode 8.
