“I Am Jazz” star Jazz Jennings proudly announced last week that she’s choosing Harvard over Pomona College after getting accepted into the two schools. However, many are still not pleased with the fact that she got into the Ivy League school.

When Jazz announced her decision last week, she happily shared that she feels “so grateful” for being given the opportunity to attend such a prestigious institution. She also admitted that she was shocked when she got accepted because Harvard is “such a selective school with such a small acceptance rate.”

In her video announcement, Jazz disclosed that she’s hoping to major in Philosophy, Gender and Religion. However, she made it clear that such plans are not fixed and so she could change my mind along the way because she plans to just “figure it out as I go along.”

Aside from the video which TLC shared, Jazz also revealed her decision to study in Harvard to her thousands of followers on Instagram. She uploaded a photo of her donning a Harvard sweatshirt and wrote in her caption that she’s so “stoked” for her life’s next chapter and that she “can’t wait for what’s to come.”

While many of Jazz’s fans quickly voiced their happiness for the trans teen, some netizens made some negative remarks about Jazz and how she got into Harvard. Some of them apparently still cannot believe that Jazz was accepted even though she was homeschooled before she applied to the university because she had a hard time coping with regular high school.

“Pretty funny how she struggled in high school and is now all of a sudden she’s going to Harvard? Come on people. Seriously??? I smell a payoff,” one commented on her Instagram post.

“I totally agree that Jazz worked and earned her way into Harvard. Don’t get me wrong I love Jazz! But I do think that being famous, and being on TLC had a lot to do with it!! … You really have to be famous or well known to get in, so it seems,” another Instagram user wrote.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Jazz got flak for her college plans. When Jazz got her acceptance letters from Harvard and Pomona, she was also heavily criticized, with some claiming that she only got accepted because she’s famous and transgender.

At the time, Jazz’s brother Sander was also busy engaging on social media, so he spotted all of the negative remarks made against his sister. He quickly defended Jazz and pointed out to haters that Jazz met all the requirements for Pomona and Harvard. He added that apart from her academics, the “I Am Jazz” star has also managed to be a role model to many through her other activities.
