In a photography incident gone wrong, a man was attacked by a leopard when he was trying to get close to the injured animal. The moment of the attack was caught on camera, and the video of the incident is currently going viral.

It happened in West Bengal’s Alipurduar district. The footage taken illustrated the villagers gathered around the wounded animal. In the clip, as the crowd is gathered, the leopard looks to be unconscious as he is flat on the ground.

Sensing its docility, the man approached to click some pictures. The man got too close for comfort, and the leopard responded with lightning-fast reflexes as illustrated.

When the leopard attacked, the villagers responded by reflex, scampering where they could go. Reports stated the man sustained injuries, but he is allegedly out of danger at this time. The leopard is undergoing treatment and will soon be released into its habitat.

Reports from various media outlets claim the leopard had been hit by a vehicle early on Tuesday when it was crossing the highway next to Dalgaon forest. The impact left her with substantial injuries on her right and left legs.

The animal was trying to recuperate on the roadside when a crowd of people surrounded her and that no doubt increased the stress levels. That was when the man in pursuit of the perfect picture exceeded his boundaries, and the result was an attack from the leopard.

The video illustrated the man extending his arms to the leopard not to pet it but to get the right angle. The animal lying motionless moments later suddenly pounced on the man as the others ran away. The man was seen struggling to free himself from the grip of the leopard.

He was at last able to free himself and run away from the animal.

Chaos soon erupted, and the villages scampered. The leopard was carried into the forest by the appropriate authorities who arrived on the scene for treatment. Beat Office Pritam Roy told the media the Jaldapara National Park authority rescued the leopard, and they would be responsible for its treatment going forward.

He also stated once the leopard is healthy, the authority would be releasing it into the forest.
Social media is presently siding with the animal. The public feeling is the man may have felt too comfortable within its personal space. This is considering it was injured and felt threatened leading to a self-defensive response to guard itself.
