Jane Gloriana Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) is an overachiever. Everything she pursues has to be done just right, and if things go awry, she’s going to exert a lot of effort into making things right. But this Season 3, things will go terribly wrong as she goes on one job interview after another, according to Rotten Tomatoes. Jane looking for a new job will be hilarious to watch as she tries to determine which company is the perfect fit for her.

“It wouldn’t be realistic if she got the first job she interviews for, and it certainly wouldn’t be a telenovela if Jane clicked with the first recruiter,” said Rodriguez. “I think Jane always is on bad interviews. Everything bad that can happen to Jane happens.”

However, in the end, Jane will say yes to one particular job, only to find that she has too many things in common with her new boss. Maya Kazan will play the boss Jane eventually works for, and she is just about the same age as Jane.

“Jane is young, her boss is young, a young wunderkind who is Jane’s contemporary but much more accomplished than she is,” executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman said. “There’s definitely some tension and different feelings about having a boss that’s her same age and where they are in their life versus your life.”

Meanwhile, Jane’s husband Michael Cordero (Brett Dier) is also on the job hunt. But Urman told TV Line there’s a lot of complications in store for him. “What is he going to do now that he can’t be a detective? Does he want to be on desk duty? Or does he have to start thinking about other careers?” she questioned.

As Michael pursues a new career, Urman said fans will be wondering what pressures the newlyweds will face and how they will conquer new twists and turns in their lives.

“Jane the Virgin” Season 3 airs every Monday at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
