CNN's chief legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin announced Friday he would be leaving the network, two years after a scandal rocked his career.

Toobin, who has been with the network for 20 years, inappropriately exposed himself over a Zoom call with colleagues in 2020, which caused significant backlash. He was then fired by The New Yorker and sidelined by CNN for a period of time, though he rejoined regular coverage eight months later.

Toobin made a post on Twitter announcing his decision to leave where he expressed "love to all my former colleagues."

He last aired on CNN on August 4.

A CNN spokesperson expressed gratitude for "Jeffrey's contributions to the network over the years and wish him all the best in his future endeavors."

Toobin's newest book, about the Oklahoma City bombing, is set for publication by Simon & Schuster in 2023.

Toobin last commented on the investigation into former President Donald Trump by the Select Committee to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, something he said was "100% clear that this is an investigation inside the Oval Office of Donald Trump."

Toobin has not commented on the recent FBI raid at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.
